This poster came from an assignment focused on making a poster for a fictional seminar regarding any topic. The research process came from being given a single word and then creating ideas using the method of mind mapping. I began with the word "shiny." I mind mapped a couple of times and came to an idea based on guitars, because guitars happen to be shiny. The process continued by building a new mind map, from the new idea of "guitars." I linked the word "guitars" to "heavy metal", because the two relate to each other directly. Finally, I chose to pursue a heavy metal poster. This poster is based on concepts of the genre, not the actual music itself; stigmas or ideologies surrounding people who play heavy metal or fans of the genre.
